The State Level Police Recruitment Board, Andhra Pradesh (SLPRB, AP) issued two notifications on 16 September 2026: one for Sub Inspector (SI) and allied posts, one for Police Constable (PC) and allied posts — Firemen and Warders included. Between them, these two notifications cover 1,534 vacancies. This guide pulls together what each notification actually says: eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus, fees, and how to apply, all in one place. It gets updated in place each time SLPRB issues a new recruitment cycle, rather than staying frozen on 2026’s numbers.

Overview: the two September 2026 notifications

NotificationVacanciesAge (as on 1 Jul 2026)Minimum education
SI & allied posts (Rc.No.81/Rect.1)37821–27Degree

These are two separate notifications, not one — applying to both an SI post and a PC post means two separate application forms and two separate fee payments. See How to apply below. Vacancy numbers are SLPRB’s own and stated as provisional, liable to change without notice.

Home Guards with at least 360 days of continuous service in the preceding two years get a separate 18–32 window regardless of which post code they apply for. Education: Intermediate or an equivalent examination recognized by the State Government for all five post codes. A Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe candidate may instead have passed SSC and be currently studying/have appeared for Intermediate 1st and 2nd year.

Gender: post codes 21 and 22 (both notifications’ “SCT Civil”/“AR” posts, and SI post code 11/12) are open to both men and women. Post codes 42 and 53 (Fireman, Warder Men) and SI post code 31 (SPF) are men-only; post code 54 (Warder Women) is women-only.

The age relaxation, in full

The starting ages above are not the real ceiling. The following relaxations apply on top of them, identically for both notifications unless noted:

CategoryRelaxation
EWSUp to 5 years
BC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC or STUp to 5 years
AP State Government employeeLength of regular service, capped at 5 years (APTRANSCO, DISCOM, APGENCO, Corporation, Municipality and local-body employees are NOT entitled to this relaxation)
Served in the Army, Navy or Air Force of the Union3 years, in addition to length of service rendered
NCC whole-time Cadet Corps Instructor (6+ months)3 years, in addition to length of service rendered
Retrenched temporary employee, State Census Dept. (6+ months during 1991)Up to 3 years

PC notification only — a widow, divorced woman, or woman judicially separated from her husband, who has not remarried: if SC or ST, upper age limit 42 years; every other category, upper age limit 37 years (both as on 1 July 2026, before any further relaxation). This provision does not appear in the SI notification.

Age limits, once relaxed as above, cannot be relaxed further under any circumstances. Date of birth is taken only from the SSC or Matriculation certificate; horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts and service records are not accepted. Because of the number of possible relaxations, neither notification’s online form validates age automatically — confirming your own eligibility before applying is explicitly the candidate’s responsibility.

Exam pattern, post by post

SI & allied: three stages

Preliminary Written Test (PWT), then PMT/PET (Physical Measurement / Efficiency Test), then Final Written Examination (FWE).

StagePaperDurationMarks
PWTPaper I: Arithmetic & Reasoning/Mental Ability (SSC standard, objective)3 hrs100
Paper II: General Studies (Degree standard, objective)3 hrs100
FWEPaper I: English (25 objective + 75 descriptive, Degree standard)3 hrs100
Paper II: Telugu or Urdu (25 objective + 75 descriptive, Degree standard)3 hrs100
Paper III: Arithmetic & Reasoning/Mental Ability (SSC standard, objective, 200 Qs)3 hrs200 (post 11) / 100 (posts 12, 31)
Paper IV: General Studies (Degree standard, objective, 200 Qs)3 hrs200 (post 11) / 100 (posts 12, 31)

Qualifying marks at both PWT and FWE, each paper: 40% (OC/EWS), 35% (BC), 30% (SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen and other Special Categories, per their own communal category). FWE Papers I & II are qualifying only — they never count toward the merit list. Final selection is on Paper III + Paper IV alone for post 11 (400 marks total); for posts 12 and 31 it’s Paper III + Paper IV + the Physical Efficiency Test score (300 marks total: 100 + 100 + 100). Revaluation of answer sheets is not entertained, though re-counting of marks may be.

PMT: Men — height 167.6cm, chest 86.3cm with a 5cm minimum expansion (160cm / 80cm with 3cm expansion for Aboriginal Scheduled Tribes in the listed Agency areas of Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, Polavaram, Alluri Sitharamaraju, Eluru and Parvathipuram Manyam). Women (posts 11 & 12 only) — height 152.5cm, weight 40kg (150cm / 38kg for ABO-ST in the same Agency areas). Measurements are taken on a digital measurement system, no manual override.

PET: post 11 — men and women must qualify the 1600m run (8 min general / 9:30 Ex-Servicemen / 10:30 women) plus one of 100m run (15 sec / 16.5 / 18) or long jump (3.80m / 3.65 / 2.75m); qualifying only, no marks. Posts 12 & 31 — all three events compulsory, and each carries marks (1600m run: 40, 100m run: 30, long jump: 30, exact gradation table in the notification’s Annexure I) that add directly to the final score.

PC & allied: one combined paper, twice

PWT, then PMT/PET, then FWE — but unlike SI, both written stages here are a single combined paper covering every subject together, not split by paper.

StagePaperDurationMarks
PWTCombined objective paper (200 questions, Intermediate standard)3 hrs200
FWECombined objective paper (200 questions, same syllabus as PWT)3 hrs200 (posts 21, 42, 53, 54) / 100 (post 22)

Qualifying marks: same 40% / 35% / 30% scale as SI, at both stages. Marks in the PWT carry no weight in final selection — only the FWE (and, for post 22, the PET) count. Final selection is on FWE marks alone for posts 21, 42, 53 and 54 (200 marks); for post 22 it’s FWE (100) + PET (100), 200 marks total.

PMT: Men (posts 21, 22, 42, 53) — same 167.6cm height / 86.3cm chest standard as SI (160cm / 80cm for ABO-ST in the same six Agency districts). Women (posts 21, 22, 54) — same 152.5cm height / 40kg weight standard as SI (150cm / 38kg for ABO-ST).

PET: posts 21, 42, 53 & 54 — 1600m run plus one of 100m run or long jump, qualifying only, same time/distance standards as SI post 11 above. Post 22 — all three events compulsory and marked (same 40/30/30 split), counted into the final 200-mark total.

Syllabus, by paper

Neither notification prescribes a textbook or publication. Both say so explicitly, and both route any dispute about a question or answer to the Board’s own Subject Experts Committee, whose decision is final.

SI: Arithmetic & Reasoning (Papers I / III)

Number system, simple & compound interest, ratio & proportion, average, percentage, profit & loss, time & work, work & wages, time & distance, clocks & calendars, partnership, mensuration; verbal and non-verbal reasoning — analogies, similarities & differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory.

SI: General Studies (Paper II / IV)

General Science — contemporary developments in science and technology and their implications, matters of everyday observation and experience, and contemporary environmental issues, pitched at a well-educated non-specialist rather than someone who has studied a science discipline; current events, national and international; History of India, with emphasis on social, economic, cultural and political aspects and the Indian National Movement; Geography of India; Indian Polity and Economy, including the political system, rural development, and planning/economic reforms.

SI: English and Telugu/Urdu (Papers I & II)

Both test correct usage and writing ability: short essay, comprehension, précis writing, letter writing, paragraph/report writing, and translation (English↔Telugu, or English↔Urdu for the Urdu option). English questions are set in English even on the Telugu/Urdu version of the paper.

PC: the combined syllabus (PWT and FWE, identical)

English; Arithmetic (SSC standard); Test of Reasoning/Mental Ability; General Science; History of India, Indian culture and the Indian National Movement; Indian Geography, Polity and Economy; current events of national and international importance. English questions are set in English even on the Telugu/Urdu version of the paper, same rule as SI.

How to apply

Applications go through SLPRB, AP’s own portal only, no other mode accepted. In outline, per both notifications:

  1. Visit slprb.ap.gov.in and pay the prescribed registration fee (Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking or any other mode the site offers), providing your name, date of birth, mobile number, community, and SSC Hall Ticket Number.
  2. Submit the STAGE I Online Application Form. If you pay the fee but never press “submit” on this form, the application is rejected without notice and the fee is not refunded.
  3. Upload a passport-size photo, signature, SSC certificate, and community/EWS/Non-Creamy-Layer certificates as applicable.
  4. If you qualify the Preliminary Written Test, log back in to submit the STAGE II Application along with scanned copies of your original certificates, before attending PMT/PET.

Applying for every post code inside ONE notification needs only one application form — but SI and PC are two separate notifications, so a candidate eligible for and interested in both needs two separate applications and two separate fee payments. Certificates (community, EWS, Non-Creamy-Layer, local-candidature, special-category) are checked only at PMT/PET, in person, with originals plus one attested photocopy; nothing submitted late is accepted at that stage.

Fees

NotificationOC & BC (incl. EWS), AP-localSC & ST, AP-localNon-local to AP
SI & allied₹600₹300₹600 (treated as OC)
PC & allied₹300₹150₹300 (treated as OC)

SI’s fee is exactly double PC’s at every tier — worth noticing if you’re budgeting for both. Both notifications print these figures directly (unlike TSLPRB’s 2026 notifications, which left the fee to the live portal), so these are the notification’s own numbers, not a live-portal estimate.

Important dates

Both notifications are dated 16 September 2026. Neither one fixes an application window, Preliminary Written Test date, or any later stage’s date — both say these “will be notified separately through a Press Release” and published on the official website. Check slprb.ap.gov.in directly rather than relying on a fixed date from anywhere else, including this guide.

Notification numbers, for reference: SI & allied is Rc.No.81/SLPRB/Rect.1/2026; PC & allied is Rc.No.91/SLPRB/Rect.2/2026, both dated 16 September 2026 and signed by Rajeev Kumar Meena, IPS, Chairman, SLPRB, AP.

Prepare with our bots

Every written paper above draws on one of three subjects our bots already drill daily, question by question, in a Telegram group:

  • General Studies and AP-specific material (History of India, Polity, Economy, current events, and Andhra Pradesh’s own history, geography, art & culture): the APPSC bot covers this with AP-specific material a general GS bot skips, and the General Studies bots cover the same core syllabus at a broader scale.
  • Arithmetic and Reasoning/Mental Ability, on every paper above without exception. The Aptitude bot drills exactly this.
  • English: a full separate paper for SI, one subject inside the combined paper for Constable. The English bot covers usage, vocabulary, grammar and comprehension question by question.

All are free to use: add one to a Telegram group and it starts sending scheduled questions on its own.

How do I add a bot to my group?
Open any bot, tap Add to Group, pick your group, then promote the bot to admin. Admin rights are what let it send quizzes and tidy up old ones.
Does it cost anything?
Adding a bot and using it is free, and stays free: quizzes, scores, leaderboards, every command that is there today. Two optional extras exist, each paid either by UPI, card, netbanking or wallet through Razorpay, or with Telegram Stars: a group admin can buy a Settings Pass (₹199 or 300 Stars for 1 year, or ₹29 or 45 Stars for 1 month), which unlocks three settings for that group, with no automatic renewal; and a person can buy a Mock Test Pass (₹99 or 150 Stars for 90 days, or ₹49 or 75 Stars for 30 days, or ₹15 or 25 Stars for 7 days) for bigger solo practice tests. Neither is needed for anything free to keep working exactly as it does today.
